Caleb and Kenzi have a darling Golden pup (he's already big but will turn 1 later this month) and they spend quite a bit of time outdoors with him or walking in one of their nearby parks. They have also been entertaining fairly often, so we wanted to make their front porch not only welcoming for guests but also a comfortable spot for them to relax and enjoy being outside in their neighborhood. We started with a pretty blank slate... she had the cute rocking chairs already but everything else was wide open for some accessorizing!
The door was a bright green when they moved in. None of us hate it, it IS very cheerful and distinctive but we had to keep that color in mind as we chose what else to use on the porch.
We found all of the outdoor accessories we needed at Hobby Lobby, and started planning our design by selecting this neutral geometric outdoor rug. It defines the space perfectly and breaks up the expanse of concrete while being the perfect pattern to mix and match lots of other things with.
She selected these pretty floral navy and blue and white outdoor pillows to add to the rockers, they tie in beautifully with the door.
I absolutely could not resist this little Golden face outdoor pillow either, I mean does it not look exactly like their pup? (Other breeds available too!)
And did you know that Hobby Lobby has a selection of pet toys and accessories in the Spring Shop too? We picked out a few for him to play with, the squirrel that makes crunchy sounds was a quick fave!
She wanted something simple for the door but again we had to keep in mind the lime green color. We chose these greenery bushes to complement the color and it took about 5 minutes to wire them to a wood bead wreath and add a cute navy striped bow to tie in with the pillows. We both loved how it turned out!
They also had a large selection of outdoor pots and planters, she and Caleb liked this white textured one. We'll add some pretty flowers once it warms up a bit more.
This year I also noticed a nice group of oversized and outdoor games... among others they have corn hole, stacking tower blocks, dominoes, and this fun Connect 4!
We just couldn't be happier for or more proud of these two, so honored to have worked on this little project with them!
This was such a quick and fun little porch glow-up, quite the before and after, right?

Wow what great taste of color for that door! I spray painted my side garage door this very color (Rustoleum) two years ago. Last August had paint match the Rustoleum color and had the 2 car garage door painted! Although my garage is not facing the street, nevertheless you see it when coming down the street! Everything else looks great and welcoming!
ReplyDeleteAmazing that such accessible easy things have such a warm and welcoming impact! Love it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful porch -- that green is perfect and the wreath -- wow, I'm making one of those. My very best wishes to Caleb and Kenzi as they start their life together.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how just a couple or three things can make things so cozy and inviting? Looks great!

ReplyDeleteLove all the colors and your wreath on your door.
I had to chuckle when I read Caleb and Kenzi have "almost been married" for six months -- you probably mean "married almost six months."
