It's the most wonderful time of the year! I'm excited to share the first of this year's Christmas home tours with you today, we'll start with the Porch and Entry. (Click here for Part 2 and Part 3.) Last year I took a little turn and used more traditional plaids with red, green, and light pink, but this year I'm back to a bright and cheery color palette and pink gingham ribbon! I generally keep a similar look from year to year but always try to switch things around and use them in different places, or change little details here and there.
Last year I used several colors of satin table runners to make big, fluffy bows. This year I used the green ones mixed in with red and pink gingham ribbon. My porch bows get bigger and bigger every year, ha!
I got a new flocked wreath and garland this year, the ones that I've used for the past 5-6 years had turned brown and were looking pretty sad. I bunched groups of 3 ornaments up with a pipe cleaner and wired them on, easy!
You've seen the green gingham mat often that I've had for years, but I recently picked up the Merry Christmas mat from Hobby Lobby. I think it's my favorite one in a while, simple but something about it feels nostalgic to me.
Last week I shared the outdoor "presents" decorations that I made, so far they're holding up perfectly and staying in place despite some super windy days!
Let's head inside the front door to the Entry...
I kept this vignette simpler than years past (yes, this look translates to "simpler" for me!) with just a few special things I wanted to include. The stars are always a given (more info here), the FA LA LA sign is one of my favorite Christmas DIYs I've done, and I pulled out just a few of the painted ceramic houses that I've used for the past few years.
A few months ago we visited Nell Hill's in Kansas City, one of my favorite decor stores to browse when we're in the area, and they had loads of these tabletop tinsel trees displayed. It inspired me to create my own (at a fraction of their price) and these little trees with their tiny vintage shiny brites that I've gathered over the years make me so happy!
Inexpensive Bell Ornament Makeover
I added some satin table runner + gingham bows to faux boxwood wreaths on the french doors,
and this is the first time I rounded up all of my unused elsewhere bottlebrush trees and lined them up in the windowsill over the door. Hard to photograph but I love them!
Thanks so much for stopping by to tour today, tomorrow I'll show you around the Dining Room!

ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your "tours" and get great ideas from your creativity. I love the footed white containers on your entry table with little trees in them. Do you recall where you have found these? I have looked and looked for a footed white container (all I seem to find is to hold fruit) for a project.
ReplyDeleteLove it as always!! the bottle brush trees over the door are so adorable.
ReplyDeleteI love your use of color, it brings a smile every time I see it. Quick question. Where do you storage all of your deco items, how is it organized, by season, by shape, material (glass, paper, etc.)? Easy access?
ReplyDeleteik always love your decor! Do you have directions or a tutorial for making the large bows from the runners? Mine do not look like yours - at all!!! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteFun, festive and impeccably done, as usual. Merry Christmas!
