2021 CHRISTMAS HOME TOUR PART 1: COLORFUL HONEYCOMB BALLS CHRISTMAS TREE

December 1 is here... it's officially the most wonderful time of the year!  I'm so excited to be with you today to share Part 1 of this year's Christmas Home Tour.  We'll kick it off this year with my super colorful (surprise surprise) Honeycomb Balls Christmas Tree!

And to add to the fun, I'm thrilled to be joining in the Holiday Home Tour today hosted by 11 Magnolia Lane and Evolution of Style.  Each day this week the featured tours focus on a different room.  Today is officially supposed to be "Living Rooms" but my tree is the only thing finished so far so that's what you get today- ha!  If you hopped over here after touring with Sarah at Thrifty Decor Chick, welcome! I have admired Sarah's style and DIY skills for years and am looking forward to soaking in her tour today (and we had lots of fun sharing our Favorite Things Gift Guide with you last week!).

For the past few years I've used a similar color scheme on my tree, but always try to switch out a different "attention getter!"  Two years ago I hung hot pink pagoda lanterns on my tree, last year I made pink and red tissue paper flowers, and this year I did something I've wanted to do for years since this project... tissue paper honeycomb balls!

Assortment of tissue paper honeycomb balls

I've used folding tissue paper fans many times in the past as Christmas decor, but have had so much fun with these honeycomb balls this year.  I already had a few but rounded up more to use on my tree and  have extra to continue the theme on my Christmas Mantel and Entry Table (I'll share those next week!)

In recent years I've done a big ribbon bow/picks/small star topper combo but was wanting something different this year.  I have several large white and gold paper 3D stars in my stash (from Ikea and Target over the years) and thought one of those might be just right.  I tried a white one out for size and loved it, but the white was completely unremarkable and unnoticeable from across the room.

So, I fixed that with several light coats of spray paint and now it's the literal "star" of the show!!

Hot Pink Spray Paint  || Star- Ikea (seasonal) ||  Hot Pink Gingham Ribbon  ||  Red Satin Ribbon here or here  ||  White Pom Pom Picks- Past Season At Home Stores, these are really similar or these or these are good options too!

The rest of the tree is filled with some of my other favorite ornaments and random special family ornaments.  Although I'm planning to do a small tree in our Master this year, this is really our only family tree and I pile all of my favorite things and memories on it!

Here's a little video of how the tree came together-

Thank you so much for touring today!  I'm anxious to get the rest of the Living Room finished and share that with you next week.  If you haven't visited the other homes on the tour today start at the beginning with Amanda from Sincerely Marie Designs, and make sure to check out all of these other festive, gorgeous tours this week!
