The "It's a Colorful Life" Christmas tours last week were too much fun to visit! I always look forward to seeing these lovely, colorful homes all decked out for Christmas, and never leave without new ideas from each one! Today I'm sharing a little wrap-up of the tours, and some takeaways that inspired me from each one. I've selected one photo to share from each one, but there is so much more and often multiple rooms packed into each post, be sure to click over on each one to see the full tour.
Jeweled Interiors- Don't overlook your back yard or the side of the road for beautiful natural elements to use on your tree. Jewel foraged some beautiful fluffy pampas grass for her art-deco inspired tree.
Kaleidoscope Living- Hang a mini wreath with pretty ribbon from each kitchen cabinet door, it's a great way to add some Christmas Cheer in a room where you need to keep the counters clear for all of that holiday baking!
Haneen's Haven- Ditch the tree stand and use a basket, planter, or oversized bowl instead. Love that Haneen filled this wire bowl with colorful ornaments!
Southern State of Mind- Use an old sled propped on your mantel for a nostalgic focal point, but be prepared to share it... Heather's boys have already claimed it when the first snowfall comes!
Rain on a Tin Roof- Gifts don't have to stay tucked solely under the tree, use them as decor for their own little vignette!
Our Fifth House- Pop ornaments into the tops of narrow open containers displayed on shelves... the perfect little hint of holiday decor without piling "more" onto already full shelves. Pop over, I chose this photo because it best showed the trophies with ornaments but you must see more of Carmel's new library/media room!
PMQ for Two- Every space doesn't have to be totally decked out to be festive. Just a few oversized ornaments and a cute little deer on the sink do the job for this entire (amazing!) Powder Bath.
Effortless Style- Add some pom poms to an old (or thrifted) set of decorative trees to really take the fun factor up a notch!
Kate Decorates- Involve the kids- Kate shows us how to make these darling gumball machine ornaments that are perfect for the tree in their playroom.
Southern Hospitality- I tend to display my vintage ornaments in bowls around the house, but look how beautiful Rhoda's collection is on her tree. Such happy color!
Heathered Nest- Layer a grouping of simple Christmas canvas artwork on your mantle for a collective statement! Another project the kids could definitely get involved in. Keep an eye out for larger canvases at thrift stores that you can paint over and this is an economical focal point for the room.
The Pink Clutch- Consider a favorite collection or unusual items to decorate you tree... I used hot pink lanterns this year but Paige hung Blue Willow teacups on the tree in her dining room (look closely and see a better look in her post)! So adorable and I love the mix of plaids she used. It's been a while since I've used it and I'm craving plaid again at Christmas, maybe next year?!?
I'm so grateful all of these talented ladies joined us for the It's a Colorful Life Christmas Tour this year, can't wait to do it again next year!
