Welcome to My Five Favorites today! Pam from Simple Details, Lisa from Shine Your Light, Kris from Driven by Decor and I are all so excited to share with you today. This time, we're telling you all about our favorite, most useful gadgets in our home.
We're so happy to welcome Sarah from Thrifty Decor Chick as our guest host today. Sarah has been blogging for a LONG time and I've followed her since I started reading blogs. She can take a space in her home that was already perfectly lovely and completely transform it to be exceptional! Exhibit 1, her gorgeous Kitchen, and exhibit 2, this to die for Craft Room!
Actually, I could keep listing rooms because they're all just so, so good! I've enjoyed watching her home progress over the years, and it seems that there's no DIY project this girl won't tackle! She's also had some really great product suggestions over the years, so I'm excited to see what her favorite gadgets are today. But for now, here are mine!

LASER LEVEL
My Straightline Laser Level is one of my most used go-to gadgets, it comes in handy for a variety of projects.
Obviously, I use it to hang things straight on the wall, especially when I have multiple items to line up. It was a life saver for my botanical wall! I don't see my exact version still available online, but this one looks similar.
But, I probably use it just as much or even more when I'm cutting wide pieces of decorator fabric. I can mark my measurements on each side of the fabric, shoot the laser line across the fabric, and it gives me a perfectly straight line to cut across. (see full post here)
ROKU PLAYER
WIRELESS GARAGE DOOR KEYPAD
Our home did not have an exterior garage door keypad when we bought it. We added a wireless one a few years ago (no electrical work necessary) and it's been SO nice to have. No need to carry keys if we're out and about in the neighborhood, and the kids can come and go through the garage as they please without carrying a key to school.
REMOTE CONTROL OUTLET
This little gadget has been a lifesaver on the patio! We had some outlets installed up in the eaves, and by using this outlet we can turn the string lights on and off with the touch of a button. No climbing up to plug and unplug!
So, for the lights plugged in up there,
we tap this remote in the kitchen drawer and voila!
Let there be light!
I also used one at Christmas inside the house for a few decorations that plugged in to hard to reach places. Just touch the remote and I didn't even have to get to the outlet, super handy.
CORDLESS BLOWER
We're loving spending lots of time on the patio, but outside is just dirty, y'all! We use this blower almost every day to blow debris off of the patio furniture, rugs, doorsteps, and the concrete. It has a rechargeable battery so there's no cord to mess with, just pick it up and go. Love it.

ooooh a cordless blower is on our list for sure!
ReplyDeleteNever thought to use a laser level for fabric measurements - what a great idea! Sounds like I need to get one of those remote controlled outlets as well:)
ReplyDeleteThe remote controlled outlet for outdoor lights is so smart!! Thank you - I am off to investigate this for my deck and patio!!
ReplyDeleteI really need that laser level...I never thought to use if for fabric either! Great tips!

Totally unrelated to this post (although lots of great idea in here!), but how do you keep your palm plants alive? I've killed one already and am desperately trying to nurse another back to health... help! Yours looks so happy in that last photo, any tips would be appreciated.
ReplyDeleteWell, this photo was early in the season when it was still fresh from the nursery. ;) But, it did pretty well through the summer. It did get brown tips on a good deal of it that I trimmed off. I not super good with plants, but this one was always in the shade and I didn't water it very often, maybe once or twice a week. Tropicals seem to like to stay pretty dry and only need occasional water. That's the only advice I've got!
DeleteWe have several of these same things and love them too. I went to the link of your bedroom but you had the cube ottomans at the foot of the bed. Can you tell me where you got the rattan bench in these photos??? I ADORE it!!!
ReplyDeleteCraigslist. :( Sorry. I recovered the seat with the palm fabric. Here's the link to that makeover- http://www.dimplesandtangles.com/2016/08/how-to-recover-upholstered-bench-or.html
DeleteThanks!!
DeleteOh, I need that blower! Brad has a big one that I hate to use because it's so big and heavy. This one looks more manageable for me. I would love it for cleaning off my patio, porch and garage.
ReplyDeleteWhen we built our house, we had outlets put in our eaves specifically to plug Christmas lights into. We have a switch right by our garage door that operates those outlets... it's so handy!
