HAPPY NEW YEAR! TRANSITIONING FROM CHRISTMAS TO WINTER DECOR

Hi there everyone, and Happy 2017!!  I hope your holidays were festive and fun!  I took full advantage of a technology break, and am back today with a slow start back to blogging.  My kids are still out of school until Thursday so we'll be making the most of these last few days.  Today I just wanted to show you a few shots around the house of how I transitioned from Christmas to Winter.  I used many of the same accessories, but switched some things around and pared back the vignettes and colors to calm everything down a bit for January.

First off, I will never ever tire of ornate gold frames, especially with chalkboards in them!  I enjoyed this one hanging over the mantel so much throughout the Christmas season that I switched the message and kept it there.

I moved all of the apothecaries from the console table and switched out all of the Christmas fillings to all things sparkly.  I also really do love these long needled pine stems that I got from At Home this year, and left them out in a few spots too.

We have a boy with a big birthday next week, so with a bit of erasing and re-doing it will be fun for that occasion as well.  I always have a saying in mind for the chalkboards, then browse Pinterest for lettering ideas and usually combine several images or fonts that I like.  I just received this book for Christmas and I'm excited to work through it and practice more.

I brought my pair of green lamps back out and left the deer and greenery on the entry dresser.  Simple.

On the kitchen table, again I switched out the colorful Christmas bulbs and just left the metallics and sparkly ones.  We've enjoyed having the Dollar Tree candles lit during meals.

A fresh bouquet here and there brings some much needed life after removing all of the Christmas decorations.

The spotted pillows are back on the sofa after a little break.  The poms that I added to them 2(!) years ago were getting tired and worn, so I clipped them off.  I miss them, though... I might have to make more!  FYI, that fabric (online here) is also on clearance for about $5/yard if you have a local Hobby Lobby.

*News Flash!!!*  I just noticed when I looked that fabric up that it comes in GOLD spots now!  Wow! Surely I need that somewhere, how cute would it be covering an old lampshade?

Are your Christmas decorations put away yet?  As magical as they are, it always feels good to pack them up and have a fresh start!

  1. Oooo love the pillows without the pom poms...though they were always a great look. The disco balls in the jars are superb. Love it Jennifer.
