Well hello there, friends, welcome back and happy 2015! I completely enjoyed my break over the holidays and will admit it's a little tough to get back in the habit of posting. I hope you all had a blessed holiday season and that your new year is off to a great start!
I realize I'm late to the party, but I wanted to to include a review of 2014 before forging ahead into new material. I hope if you're a newer reader you find some inspiring things here, and if you're an old friend there might just be something you missed.
This list grew much longer than I originally anticipated, but I figured I'd just include all of these in one big post and be done with the wrap-up.
First up, furniture makeovers and a project that's almost exactly one year old and I still love it as much today as back then. Adding a graphic fabric to the backs of my kitchen chairs really stepped them up a notch, and I didn't actually reupholster anything!
My daughter's nightstands were another favorite furniture makeover. I'll be showing you her refreshed room a little later this month.
Finally, these fur ottomans that I made over with a real fur coat from the thrift store and a little bit of inspiration from a pricey Horchow piece.
I've already seen hints of Valentine's Day for this year, and I loved this sweet sparkly garland that I hung on our mantle last year.
My son's bedroom makeover took up a big part of last year, and this simple DIY bedskirt was a pretty popular project.
You all know that I love creating tablescapes, and these two were my favorites last year.
A few smaller craft, decorating, and sewing projects-
How to Strip Paint from Brass (and a great way to polish brass- I use this tip all the time!)
Look for Less DIY Lacquered Decorative Boxes
How to Make a Pillow Cover with a Zipper (it's easy!)
I'm so glad to check two room makeovers off of the list, and still completely love both of them!
Boy's Teen Bedroom (with links to other projects in the room)
Oh, and I should probably include our new paint! I guess not only those two rooms, but our entire common living area got a makeover. I never thought the old paint was that dark until we lightened up.
Finally, I'm still amazed at the opportunities this blog has brought my way.
I was published in the April 2014 issue of Good Housekeeping Magazine. What an honor to be included in such a classic publication!
And, participating in the Home Depot Style Challenge is a dream invitation for most bloggers, and I was so thrilled to be included in the Fall/Halloween challenge this year. Home Depot is a company I support and frequent, and it was a privilege to work with them on this project.
I know that none of the fun things that come my way would be possible if you guys weren't reading and commenting and pinning and encouraging me. So, thank you, thank you, thank you. Looking forward to sharing another year with you!

ReplyDeleteYay! I'm finally learning that lesson... to decorate according to what I like rather that what I think I should do according to what others are doing, if that makes sense. Happy New Year to you as well!
