Over the weekend, this little blog had a birthday! Since my first post three years ago, this blog has become more than I ever imagined, providing me with opportunities I never thought I'd have. Most of all, I've gained a host of new friends who don't mind my rambling about all things home related!
So, for this celebration, I think a bit of reminiscing is in order. Since I started a little guest post series this summer, I thought I'd share my own Favorite 5 posts with you over the past three years.
I loved this DIY Drum Shade because I felt like I truly took almost nothing and made something terrific out of it! I completely love my thrifted vintage chandelier, but it wasn't quite the right scale for our Office. Adding the shade gave it the bulk it needed, while updating the fixture just a bit at the same time.
Emily's Rainbow Ruffle Polka Dot Confetti Cake was one of my favorite birthday cakes that I've made. Although it's a lot of extra work, I enjoy making my kids' cakes every year, and we usually gear them around what their interests are at the time. They aren't stellar, but I also posted round-ups of all of Caleb's birthday cakes and Emily's cakes from previous years. More than anything, it's fun for us to look back at their cakes and have great memories of that time in their lives!
Our Painted Built-Ins are one of my favorite house projects, mainly because they've made such a dramatic difference in the look and feel of our living room. I also love that they show how change and home design happens over time - we lived with the oak for 3 or 4 years, then after the initial paint job, I went back about a year later and painted just the backs a different color and changed out the hardware. Now I really love them and don't want to change a thing.
Last year's Fall Tablescape was one of my favorites ever! I can't put my finger on my favorite part, but I think the mix of color, patterns, and texture worked out just right. And, it's probably my first tablescape where the Dining Room was actually finished! Making pretty tables using what I already have are some of my favorite things to create, you can see more under the "Tablescapes" category on the right hand sidebar.
Finally, you know I couldn't do a favorites round-up without including my Reupholstered Vintage Cane Wingback Chairs. They were my first upholstery overhaul project, and I'm still so happy with them.
I honestly can't believe that 3 years have passed since I began this journey. There's no way I'd still be here without all of you encouraging and supporting me along the way! So, you should have a huge part in this celebration as well! How about a giveaway?
I'll choose three winners, who may each take their pick of any of these $25 gift cards from some of my favorite stores...
