I grew up eating canned vegetables at almost every meal. Even now, my family eats canned veggies several times per week. Although I'm always on the hunt for a bargain, there is one thing I don't skimp on. I'm a canned green beans brand snob, and I always buy Del Monte®! And the thing is, I really don't have to sacrifice a bargain to buy the brand that I want, especially when shopping at places like Sam's Club. The prices can't be beat and we always have plenty of veggies on hand!
Sam's Club is helping us Celebrate Spring with Del Monte® and has provided several tasty new side dish recipes on their website. Do you need some fresh ideas for your Easter menu this week? How about stepping up your game with the Ultimate Creamy Mashed Potatoes, Cheddar Corn Casserole, Quick and Crunchy Mac & Cheese (for happy kids!), or everyone's favorite Green Bean Casserole? Those are just a few of the new savory recipe selections.
You know that over the weekend we celebrated my sister's birthday with a special meal and party at my house. When considering the sides to add with our BBQ Brisket, I looked through the side dish recipes on the Sam's Club website. There were so many delicious looking choices! As much as I love a good green bean casserole, some in my family are sensitive to dairy, so when I came across this recipe for Brown Sugar Bacon Green Beans, I knew they would be a hit!
On a side note, I LOVE the tab top cans that Del Monte® uses, especially when making a recipe that calls for several canned goods. That easy open top keeps my hands and wrists happy when I don't have to use the can opener.
This recipe did not disappoint, and it could not have been easier! With just a few ingredients and minimal prep time, it was perfect choice in the midst of a busy day. Although the recipe calls for pan-frying the bacon, since my brisket was cooking in the oven I just stuck a pan of bacon in at the same time, making the prep even easier. Now come on, how could you NOT love a dish with THIS included...
My only suggestion is to measure the red pepper flakes carefully, or even go easy on them if this is your first time making this recipe. I wasn't too exact and our beans were very spicy, but still delicious. The combination of spicy, sweet, and savory was perfection!
Although we started with this, all I had was empty plates when it was time to do the dishes!
If you're planning your Easter menu, make sure to check out all of the vegetable side dish recipes on the Sam's Club website. We all need a new twist on our old stand-bys sometimes! I'm sure you'll find something new that your family will love, too.
This is a sponsored post in partnership with Sam's Club, but as always I only share products that I love and think you will too. Thanks for supporting businesses that partner with D&T!
I do something similar for holidays but I do bacon and onion and let the whole thing simmer down. Brown sugar sounds good too :) xo Kristin
