You know I am! Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! We are off on a little Spring Break getaway (follow along here on Instagram!) but I just had to pop in and share a little green with you today!
We had a beautiful day several days ago and so I couldn't resist breaking out the spray paint! I've had these lanterns forever. I found them at Hobby Lobby years ago before they had a fabulous lantern selection like they do now. There were with their seasonal garden section and were white shabby chic, which isn't really my style but I loved the shape. So, I painted them black right away, and after all of the years of use they needed a touch up.
I always struggle with what to put on my tables, do you? But I was at a friend's house the other day and she had a pair of lanterns on her kitchen table, which looked so good. So when considering pulling out my old faithful black pair, I decided that area needed a little dose of green. There's already enough black around there!
My trusty "Meadow Green" from Rustoleum did the trick.
For the candle, I used some nailheads and sprayed them black, then just stuck them in to make polka dots.
By the way, did you know that styrofoam makes painting tacks, screws, etc. super easy? I can't wait to show you what came packed in that styrofoam! (Stay tuned for that next Monday.)
I think they turned out very Kate Spade-ish!
To fill them, I wasn't quite ready to use seashells yet, so I went for sparkle and picked up a few boxes of acrylic diamonds and some wooden balls from Hobby Lobby, then mixed in some gold and silver Christmas ornaments and bells that I still had around.
And while I was at it, I re-painted the frame that's on the chalkboard wall too.
I'd been waiting for just the right spot for this artwork that my daughter did at school. Isn't it perfect?
Happy St. Patrick's Day Jennifer!! Love the updates...such a great shade of green...that frame looks awesome!

ReplyDeleteThat shade of green is perfection in your house. I love the lanterns in that color!! I have my Ikea lanterns on my table and light the candles all the time for dinner. Makes regular weeknight dinners feel a bit more festive! Your daughter's artwork is great!
ReplyDeleteCan I commission an abstract? :) Perfect pops of green for your home, today is definitely YOUR day!
ReplyDeleteLove the green lanterns!! Have the best time in KC.
ReplyDeleteI read but rarely comment - the lanterns are great, but. Your daughter's artwork is fantastic! Kudos to her - and the frame is exactly what such a fun piece deserves!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely fabulous idea! I love that you painted your black lanterns. I need to bust out my spray paint and change some things around here too. Also, the tacks are genius!
ReplyDeleteYou are certainly killing me with the polka dot candles. Genius and I think I might have to do that too somewhere in our house! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteMy biggest struggle, in my house, is my centerpieces for both my formal dining room and my breakfast area table. I NEVER know what to put there! I love this idea!! :) Also, are your polka dots (on your kitchen walls) painted or vinyl stickers? I am looking at doing something similar on the wall behind my pantry but can't decide which route would be better? mhathorn@metbank.com
