I'm not very good at making goals. I always have a list in my head of what I want to accomplish, and slowly but surely chip away at that. However, nothing is ever official because surprise projects pop up and my plans change often!
So, here are four biggies that are on my radar this year.
1) My Master Bedroom Makeover. This is the third year that I've had this on the list. I've got the plan all designed (in my head!) and we've made an ever so slow start by painting the room and selling old furniture. I've even got a pretty good stash accumulated of new things I want to use, now it's just a matter of getting busy with the sewing, painting, and arranging! I'll share the plan with you sometime soon.
(a little peek of the paint...everything else needs some attention!)
2) My Son's Room. Another oh-so-slow work in progress. It needs a major clean-out, organizing session, and new paint. I also have an upholstered headboard planned and hopefully a fun wall treatment, along with some DIY custom artwork. Lots to do here!
3) Back Yard Landscaping. Our front yard got an overhaul last summer, and now the back yard needs some major attention. We're thinking a fire pit with sitting area out towards the back of the yard with lots of new trees and plants. Also, the pergola and this entire area/bed needs to be ripped out and re-done. We really hope to knock this out through the Spring so we can enjoy it through the rest of the Summer and Fall.
4) New paint for all of our living areas. After almost 7 years of living here, it's time to freshen it up. We have a very open floor plan, so new paint means everything gets it...the kitchen, living room, dining room, entry, and hallways. It will involve painting the ceiling of all of those areas, too. No small project.
In the immediate future, I have two small-ish projects I'm excited about. I still have to finish staining the other 3 of these chairs darker, and then the back is getting a little facelift. I'm going to experiment with adding a fun fabric without disassembling the back.
Then, I've had this pair of ottoman/stools for almost a year, and I'm dying to tear into them.
Here's where they're headed:
In addition to those major projects planned, I also hope to share lots of easy, very do-able ideas with you as well. So, regardless of your DIY comfort level, I'm hoping there will be something for everyone here!
On a side note, if you need a plan for dinner tonight I made Julie's Tastes Like Chick-fil-A's Tortilla Soup last night. Yum!
What great projects you have lined up Jennifer :) Love the malachite fabric. Those are going to be killer! xo Kristin
ReplyDeletei'm in love with that Robert Allen fabric too and using it for my re-upholstering project for my breakfast area! Excited to see whats ahead for you Jennifer, I'm sure it will be fantastic! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI never tire of looking at pics of your house !!! Can't wait to see your year unfold!
ReplyDeleteWe just painted our kitchen so I know what a big job that it… especially if you like decorating. One thing always leads to another. Have fun with your projects. We are snowed in so I'm getting LOTS done!
ReplyDeleteSounds like some really fabulous projects. I need to repaint a few areas too and all of my trim really needs it. Can't wait to see all of yours done. I would love for you to link up to my Inspire Me Tuesday party - - -http://www.astrollthrulife.net/2014/01/198th-inspire-me-tuesday.html. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI think you can nail all of these! I've got backyard landscaping on my radar this year too. Here is hoping we can both get it done! :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what all you pull out of your hat! And I am dying to try that soup!
ReplyDeleteGreat projects! I have some of the same ones on my list! Our backyard needs tome love, but it's such a daunting project with the overhaul we have in mind. Painting our living area is another one. Another BIG one. But, we'll get there, right? ;-)
ReplyDeleteoh that fabric is dreamy! i can't wait to see it all come to life in your able hands!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you liked the soup, Jennifer! And it looks like you've got some great ideas for 2014! I just noticed recently that you have the same curtain fabric in your living/dining that I have in my library. Still love them!
ReplyDeleteOoooh so exciting!! I love the direction you're taking your bedroom. I saw that florally ikat fabric at the Hunted Interior and love it so much. It will look great with your greens! Looking forward to following along with you!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a busy year. I've pretty much run out of rooms to redo in the house. So, I'm working on the garden. Your backyard is fantastic. I can't wait to see what you do out there.
ReplyDeleteAll such great projects - especially your master bedroom. I'm obsessing with navy and green nowadays so I'm loving what you have in mind for prettying up that space!
ReplyDeleteI love where things are headed! ;)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to follow along! I don't know if I'm most excited to see your master, your son's room, or your landscaping.
ReplyDeleteOh man....malachite skirted stools?! Be still, my heart. Can't wait to see!
ReplyDeleteGosh your goals are getting me excited ;)
ReplyDeleteI don't even know where to start…the new paint everywhere, your bedroom, the malachite stools and your backyard!!! Can't wait.
Boy, you are going to be very busy this year. I am just exhausted from reading this post, LOL. I hope all your plans come true for 2014. Can't wait to see.

You sure are going to keep yourself busy this year Jennifer...I know everything will turn out FABULOUS!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun list, I'd be so anxious to start on several of those!! Love the fabrics you've chosen and will be looking forward to the bedroom reveal! :)
ReplyDeleteThe pergola is so pretty - sad it has to be torn out. When you have a chance, will you remind what that watercolor-ey fabric for your bedroom is? I really love it and think it could be the perfect bit of color and whimsy my dining room needs! Depends on the new rug, but I really love it!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing how all of your upcoming projects turn out. I really like your style!!
ReplyDeleteWhat great plans you have for 2014! Love that you're willing to share them, maybe I should share mine-- to add that needed pressure to get them done!
ReplyDeleteOur bedroom has been our list since we moved in 2012, and we still haven't done a lot in there. Funny how that happens, isn't it? I think because nobody sees it except us, I can kind of forget about it.
ReplyDeleteExcited to follow along! I would love to paint all our living areas this year too!
ReplyDeleteOOOh it all sounds so good. I cant wait to see your spaces transform. I have to say though Im totally not jealous of the ceiling painting you're planning to tackle. #illpass. BUT your backyard plans sound fabulous:)
