You know I've had birthday on the brain for the last week, and I thought it would be fun to share some of Caleb's cakes that we have done in the past. I've always made the kids' birthday cakes and the theme of their party has always centered around whatever they were really interested in at the time. It's been fun to look back through these and remember all of the things that were his favorites (and most still are!).
Most of these pictures aren't great and the cakes definitely aren't professional quality, but it was fun to see what we could come up with each year to match the theme.
Birthdays 1 and 2 were pre-digital camera, so I didn't have easy access to those pictures. His first cake was a big brown bear and the second was a dump truck.

How fun to look back at happy times celebrated with such adorable cakes.
ReplyDeleteHow cute! I especially love the firetruck one, since my little guy is 3 :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a special memory you have been creating for your children! I can tell that you put a lot of work into them and they look great. I hope I have enough time to do this for my future kids.

Your cakes are much fancier than mine (you've got skillz! ;), but we've done a lot of the same theme over the 10 years of my oldest son's life (and of course, little brother likes to have all the same things.)
ReplyDeleteMy oldest will be 11 in May...and I am NOT ready for him to start middle school...and not want Star Wars, Lego, or Hot Wheels themed cakes and parties. Wah. :(
How did I miss this post?? These are great, Jennifer! Love the football helmet - how on earth did you make that? I need to make that for my oldest - he plays football and has a Sept. birthday - perfect time for that cake. You missed your calling as a cake decorator my friend!
ReplyDeleteI was curious if you ever considered changing the page layout
ReplyDeleteof your blog? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say.
But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people
could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1 or 2 pictures.
Maybe you could space it out better?
