I've never been a deer head on the wall kind of girl (although I think they're cool in other people's homes), but lately I've been crazy about antlers. I've been on the hunt for a great pair to hang on the wall, but no luck yet. My mom did find a loose pair with a little of the velvet still attached at a local antique shop and picked them up for me. My dad had an old plaque stashed in their garage that he offered me, so we put them together and came up with this:
They're small but I like the quirky touch. I would still like another set if I come across some one day. I think they look fantastic hung in groupings.
I'd also like to have a gob of loose antlers, especially for this time of year. They would be perfect in a big basket, in a wooden dough bowl, mingled in with the decorations on a tablescape, intertwined in Christmas tree branches; there are countless options! I'm noticing that loose antlers are showing up more and more lately. This is from the Pottery Barn catalog I just received:
Do you see them hiding in the middle? I love the rustic touches. More and more I'm wanting to mix in lots of elements of nature on the inside of my home.
How about you? What decor item are you loving right now?
I'm w/ you, not a fan of the whole deer head but loving antlers!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of having them in a big basket, and love the pinned pic of them in the fireplace!
very cute!

I'm loving those huge round mirrors over the nightstand right now! Nice photo with your antlers and the wheat in the foreground. :)
ReplyDeleteI've got a TON of antlers in my house! We have an entire man room full of mounted and loose antlers. Plus, a boar's head (with the tongue sticking out, his name is Earl) and a full deer head (my 2 year old loves them both!). I've been thinking about bringing the antlers into our den with a frame around them, and I think you've just convinced me to do it! My husband will be ever so grateful! Thanks for the blog visit today!
ReplyDeleteLooks like Ray needs to start hunting :)
ReplyDeleteI love antlers, too and have quite a few. I have vintage roe deer antlers from Austria and some white tail antlers that aren't mounted. I also bought a nice big pair of antlers that had no mount and I bought a plaque at Hobby Lobby and mounted them.
