Happy Monday Everyone! Well that weekend went by in a blur, but we were prepping and packing for vacation so the time flew by extra quickly. After getting up super early we rode most of the day yesterday and arrived in New Orleans last night. It's been 6 years since we've been here so we'll spend a full day enjoying the sights (& food!) before heading on to Florida tomorrow for some R&R at the beach. It's hard to believe that the Fourth of July will be right around the corner by the time we get home, so I thought I'd better get my brain in gear to be ready for the holiday.
A few decorations from years past...
Next to Thanksgiving and Christmas, I think the Fourth is one of the best food days of the year, too! Here are a few of my favorite recipes for gathering friends and family.
If your home or wardrobe needs a little boost to make the big day more festive, I've got you covered there too! (affiliate links used)
With our hometown parade, family games and all of our favorite foods, the Fourth is actually one of the best days of the year for my family. We can't wait!
Ray and Caleb are touring the World War 2 Museum today while Emily and I browse the shops along Magazine Street and try to find something else fun to do while they're gone. And I'm glad I brought a loose dress to wear today, because we've got to cram Hansen's, a seafood dinner, and Cafe Du Monde all in one day! #walkwalkwalk

I don't know what part of Florida ya'll are visiting but your post of the beautiful houses in New Orleans brought to mind a small town in Alabama that is the definition of old southern town. It is Eufaula, AL and the homes on main street will take you back to a time when living was easy. If you ever get a chance to drive through the town, you should definitely do it. Have fun on the beach!!!
