DECORATIVE TRAYS
Gold Striped Pot || Tray and Head Planter- Homegoods || Lamp- Vintage (similar here)
I could probably use a tray on just about every flat surface in my house! Not only does it define a smaller space on a larger surface, it can corral smaller accessories, cause the eye to focus on special pieces, protect furniture underneath it, and add interesting color, shape, or texture to a vignette.
FEATHER PILLOW INSERTS
Throw pillows as a basic in my home are a no brainer, but pillows with down inserts specifically for me are a must have. I shared some tips and tricks about down inserts here. I realize that not everyone can use feather pillows due to allergies, and if so the down alternative pillows aren't too bad, but nothing beats the real thing for plumpness and karate-chopability! #yesItotallymadethatup
CAST IRON PANS
Over the past 5 years or so I've gradually been using cast iron more and more, and now it's just about all I use every day. They heat so evenly, can be used on the stovetop or in the oven (or back and forth) and are generally a breeze to clean. I've collected several different sizes and use them all equally depending on my needs (I have the 6.5", 9", 10.25", and 12", and the griddle). My husband was even given the camp dutch oven as a gift and he loves to use it to make one pot meals in our outdoor fireplace (I never object when he wants to do the cooking!). A stovetop dutch oven is next on my wish list! Here are two favorite recipes that I use my cast iron for... Chicken & Avocado Salsa and Indian Tacos.
IKEA COMFORTER
I've mentioned this in the past in an IKEA favorites post, but the IKEA Tilkort lightweight comforter deserves revisiting. The price is amazing and my entire family currently has one on their bed. It's warm without being bulky at all. It can be used alone, in a duvet cover, or even under a heavier blanket if you need even more warmth. I also appreciate that it's super easy to throw in the wash often when I can't keep the cats off of the bed!
BLUE AND WHITE ACCESSORIES
I don't know that I can't live without blue and white pieces, but I sure have a hard time passing up a new piece when I see it! ;)
(P.S.- these shelves are currently mid-makeover. Check back next week to see their new look!)

I was making so many mental notes through this post! First of all, your kitties? Could that picture be ANY cuter? It seriously needs to be entered into some sort of contest!! I love every single thing on your list - after I wrote my post for today Mark said - the cast iron skillet isn't on there? We have several as well, and use one in particular almost every day. Ikea has a great cast iron pot with a stainless steel lid that we often use when making roasts and stews, it's a great one to add to your collection if you don't already have it!
ReplyDeleteAll of your throw pillows are so colorful and gorgeous!!!

DeleteThose kitties are too cute. They look just alike, are they twins? I really enjoyed all the favorites of all the bloggers.
ReplyDeleteThanks! They are brothers. We have learned to tell them apart but they are very close! So glad you enjoyed the posts. ;)
