I am so thrilled and honored to be participating in my third home tour hosted by my friend, sweet Mama-to-Be Lindsay from The White Buffalo Styling Company. She has assembled a first-rate group of bloggers that I am so privileged to be a part of. Thank you Lindsay! Did you catch all of the tours yesterday? They were all crazy good! This week is so much fun and I'm looking forward to seeing what all of the other favorite rooms are too. If you're continuing on the tour today from This, That, and Life, or any of the other blogs, Welcome! I'm so happy that you're here.
My current (it changes often) favorite "room" is our Entry.
But before I give you all the details, let's start from outside the Entry. As an extension of our Entry, I also love our front porch. I'm so thankful that the previous owner chose to use brick on the porch. I buy 2 massive ferns from Lowe's every Spring, and they're worth every penny. For whatever reason, they thrive in this spot and make a dramatic statement framing the front door.
After seeing Amy's cute front door makeover, I remembered that I had a wood monogram I could use on the porch (it didn't show up well on my front door with the glass so I hung it with a ribbon from the light), and she reminded me of an idea that I've had pinned forever to paint just the inside edge of a door with a pop of color for a little surprise. Huh, that color just happened to be green for me...surprised? ;)
We very recently repainted all of our living area to a lighter, brighter color (BM Manchester Tan at 25%). Putting everything back where it belonged brought a good opportunity to change things up just a little bit.
If you've seen my Entry before, it's still similar, but I think the paint color makes such a huge difference, not to mention the new mirror! Since the mirror is so large, I had to find a new home for the free antlers, but they'll still have a home somewhere.
I've furnished this area almost entirely with second hand finds and budget friendly items. The dresser, chippendale chair, and most recently the mirror are all Craigslist bargains. The lamps were from a thrift store and got a makeover, and the blue and white pieces are from Ross.
So there you go! That's my current favorite... today. My Dining Room is a close second, my Breakfast Nook comes in at third, and I would love for you to check out my entire home tour here!
If you missed any other of the favorite room tours today, here's a complete list so you can follow along:

ReplyDeleteYou have a wonderful home, Jennifer! I really like its design! And I’m a bit surprised that the displays you used came from thrift stores. They look great, and they go well with the whole feel of the room. You really did a great job with the makeover! Cheers!

Love your entry! What paint color/finish did you use on your French dresser? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI would love to know where you got the gorgeous mirror above your fireplace ? Your home is absolutely gorgeous and has become my favorite passtime looking at all your wonderful ideas and decorating.
ReplyDeleteHi Kathryn, if you're talking about the gold peacock type mirror, I got that at Pier One several years ago, and they don't carry it anymore. However, Pottery Barn has one just like it, and it's on sale! Still a little pricey, but a good investment I think. Deletethank you so much, I just love, love everything you do, you are so extremely talented! I got some planters on clearance the other day and am going to try the black and white stripe on them, I love the ones you did, wish I could just copy :"everything" you have done!!
DeleteOh yay! You will LOVE the striped pots, I wish I could do all of mine that way! :) Copy away, that's why I do what I do!
Deletethat may still be a little out of my price range, I have been scouring the internet for "similar" less expensive ones to no avail. May just have to improvise. thanks again
DeleteThey are expensive, even at Pier One when I got mine. I stalked one that was in the "scratch and dent" until it went 75% off. I had to replace some mirrors and touch up paint, but nothing I couldn't handle! I'll let you know if I come across anything!
