If I'm not careful you guys are going to think I'm a one trick pony. I used these shutters on my Fall Mantel 2 years ago, but they were moss green instead of kelly green, so that counts as a new look, right? Last year I used a big green mirror, so ok, I might be stuck on one thing. But I just like the drama added from the green and the bulk and height added from the shutters so much!
Let's take a closer look...
Since I'll be participating in the Modern and Fresh Fall Tour next week, I tried to keep things modern and fresh! My goal was to use natural objects, texture, and mixed metals. I must really like those things anyway, because most of the things I used are things I have out all the time anyway, I just used them in a different way.
This quail was an oh-so ugly thrifted piece, but a quick spray of gold helped him fit right in. We're partial to Quail around here. I pulled out a color from way back in my stash, and it's the brightest, shiniest gold I've used. It's Design Master "Gold Medal", which you can find at Michael's if you want to try it.
I like to throw a disco ball in wherever I can.
I've had these birdcages for years but haven't been using them lately. Thanks to my friend Jennifer who's not-so-scary Halloween vignette inspired me to get them back out!
I've enjoyed my fiddle leaf fig and aspen branches so much in the firebox that I left them there for now until we start using the fireplace.
So that's it! I thought it was about time for some Fall decorating, especially since all of my blogger friends will be moving on to Christmas soon. It helps that it finally feels like Fall in Oklahoma...bring on the boots, sweaters, and hot chocolate!

One trick pony you are not. If something works, go w/it! That mirror is one of my favorites. I eyeball it every time I see it in stores/mags. Looks great! Love that you added the disco ball into the mix too. That's been on my wish list for a while. Hoping to add it into my family room mix.
ReplyDeleteI think you are anything but a one trick pony! So nice.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the new(ish) Kelly green shutters, such a fun update! You could even keep them up for Christmas. :)
ReplyDeleteNow I need to find some neat shudders since yours look terrific on your mantel. I'm happy to see a redish brick fireplace close to ours. It seems that they're a rarity in blog land.
