Finally! I'm
declaring this room finished and am so glad to be able to share it with
you today. You've already seen bits and pieces, but here it is all
together. While working on this post, I realized I had WAY too many photos to show, so today I'll give you the big picture and next week I'll show you more (go here for more details and close-ups).
The hand-painted accent wall is definitely the star of the show! It ties in beautifully with the gold drum shade that I made and other gold accents around the room.
This
is such a multi-purpose room for us. It's the computer, movie, game,
toy, craft, piano, and sleepover room! Although I wanted it to be
stylish, it also had to be very functional and practical.
We painted the ceiling "Wrought Iron" by Martha Stewart, and the walls are "White" (no kidding!) by Behr. I also painted the backs of the shelves the same color as the walls in an effort to break up all of the stained wood and lighten the room a bit without repainting all of the woodwork.
And, for a little refresher of where we came from:
Next week I'll give you some more close-ups and details, and tell you about the skirting.

I am happily reading this post while hubby is driving us to school this morning! (Yay for a few minutes of blog reading!)
ReplyDeleteA very Jennifer room...synonymous with beautiful! The biggest impact is the before/after shot. Wow. This room is fun, but very sophisticated. My faves: accent wall/mirror (of, course) and the light fixture. But that carpet? Love! :)
You are awesome.
it is AWESOME! so warm and rich and elegant! that painted nook is my favorite part! :)
ReplyDeleteLook at the difference and how far this multi-purpose room has come! It's fantastic Jennifer and I will also add luxurious but completely functional too. I love it and I bet you love spending time in this room. Looking forward to reading more about this one.
ReplyDeleteWow. That looks amazing. Are you sure you are not getting ready for a Better Homes and Garden photo session? :). Looks great!
ReplyDeleteAmazing!! I love how much brighter it looks and feels even with keeping the stained wood! Can't wait to read the details.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! You have really been busy and it shows beautifully. I am loving the gold accents and amazed at how the room looks so different than before (even with the same shelves) Well done!

Of course, I knew it would be fabulous, but WOW, WOW, WOW! The best example of stained woodwork with style, love the drama of your painted ceiling and accent wall. And, the fact that it is so functional takes it over the top!!
ReplyDeleteJennifer, your office came out SO beautifully!! I love all the elements together - the rug, that gorgeous navy blue, the gold detail on the accent wall, the fluffy stools, the way you styled the shelves!! Amazing - I would LOVE this room in my house!!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning! Can't wait to see more. My favorites thus far are the accent wall (of course!), the stools, bird cage and the skirting. Such an amazing difference between the before & after...great job!
